Brain Chase is a clever online learning program kids can use to stay sharp over school breaks and enrollment is ending soon for the seven week summer program. Unlike other computer or online learning programs, there’s a “live” element to Brain Chase–you have to start the program on June 19th, then compete with the other students to chase after a REAL live prize! Each week kids will get the chance to unlock clues to finding the prize through fun learning adventures.
FYI: This post is sponsored by Brain Chase. Mitch has received a free enrollment to the Brain Chase summer program in exchange for our honest review of the system. We’ll be posting updates on our summer adventures here an on Instagram.
The Brain Chase Prize
The Brain Chase program is an interactive adventure. Kids follow along with Mae (in cartoon form) and help her find clues. This summer she’s looking for the Globe of Magellan–and if your kid is the first player to find the real world location, you win! And not just a certificate of completion–the Brain Chase team has actually buried a trophy somewhere in the world for your the winner to go dig up!
The Grand Prize is a trip to retrieve the buried trophy, and if the winner is an individual, the winner will receive a $10,000 USD scholarship, to be deposited in 529 College Savings Plan account. Teams can also play the game, so if a Team becomes the Winner, one representative from the Team and their chaperone will be flown to the treasure’s location to retrieve it. The sponsor of the winning Team will have the right to retain the trophy, once it has been retrieved by its representative, and will receive a $10,000 cash prize.
The Brain Chase Program
Of course the real reason to sign your kid up for Brain Chase right now is to stop that notorious “summer slide.” A 2011 RAND study found that students can lose about a month’s worth of learning after summer break. Brain Chase wants to offer a program that will stop the slide in a super fun way.
Let’s face it, only one kid is going to win a trip to dig up buried treasure. It’s a super cool bonus, and maybe just the carrot your kid needs to keep working on their academic skills.
Each week kids can tackle challenges in the obvious areas of reading and math. But the fun comes when they throw in engineering, yoga, cooking and art!
The Brain Chase Package
There are three packages to choose from when you register.
Scout is the base package at $69 with just the online access to the program (and a chance to win that prize). Kids can choose from Math, reading, typing and community service for their learning subjects.
Explorer is the most popular package at $149. You get more subjects to choose from–art, coding, engineering, fitness, cooking and yoga are added. You’ll also get some swag: your kid will be mailed three adventure tools and a badge.
Adventurer is the full deal at $229. You get everything above plus access to Language, Writing, Book Club and Entrepreneurship subjects, plus a T-shirt and world map.
Everyone who signs up at ANY LEVEL has the same chance of winning the prize and get the same clues. The only difference is the access to extra subjects and swag.
If you’re wondering what the Adventure tools are, here’s a photo: a compass, decoder ring and “surprise” bonus tool. You can order them separately for $30.
If you happen to be a reader from the Lone Star State, good news–there’s a special edition just for Texas kids. The adventure (and pricing) is the same, but the treasure you’re looking for is somewhere in Texas. Why? Because Brain Chase is based in Austin and they want to give their local fans a little extra love.
