Did you know you can now download your favorite Netflix shows and watch them while going over the river and through the woods to Grandmother’s house? This is great news for all the families gearing up for a big road trip this weekend. Or heck, just a trip to the mall.
Psst: I’m a member of the Netflix #StreamTeam and partner with Netflix to bring you cool news like this.
So if you don’t have enough data–or a strong enough signal–to stream TV and movies on the go, Netflix has you covered. Just open your show on a mobile device and hit the download button! Easy peasy. Don’t see the download arrow? Then make sure you’ve updated your Netflix app! Sadly, not everything in the Netflix library is ready to download, but they’ve made sure their most popular shows are included.
Downloading is a free feature, and it’s included in every plan, for both iOS and Android. Go check it out!
If you’re looking for something fresh to entertain the big kids during Christmas break, check out Trollhunters. It released TODAY, so there’s nothing fresher. This is a Netflix exclusive from master storyteller Guillermo del Toro and DreamWorks. It’s about a ordinary teenager who finds a mystical amulet on his way to school–and discovers an extraordinary secret civilization of trolls living underneath his town!
“When I was kid, I always loved the idea that trolls live under bridges and the bridges exist in cities everywhere,” says del Toro, the Academy Award®-nominated writer and filmmaker whose outstanding visual effects and creations have captivated global audiences for more than two decades.
He adds, “I wanted a series that (had) a lot of mythology behind it, but that actually dealt with regular kids – you know, kids that were having braces put on, they had gym class, they had theater class, and so forth.”
All 26 episodes of Tr ollhunters’ first season will begins streaming for Netflix members today.
Anton Yelchin Last Role
There a something a little sad about Trollhunters though.
This is the last performance of Anton Yelchin, who did a stellar job as Chekov in the Star Trek reboots. Yelchin completed most of the voice work for Jim, the main character, before his untimely death.
“There’s an episode where Jim has almost a multiple personality,” Marc Guggenheim says. “It gave Anton an opportunity to play five different roles in a single episode. That was just a revelation to see. … It was fun to watch him grow up as a voice actor and learn a whole new skill set.”
“Anton did a wonderful job,” Steven Yeun says of Yelchin’s performance. “It’s a great way to remember him, to see the impact that he’s had on this.”
Make Trollhunter Armor
After you’ve had a taste of Trollhunters, you might want to take a little crafting break! Netflix has provided templates for a few pieces of Trollhunter armor and a sword for the daring crafter. Good luck!
