The big post Christmas snow missed St. Louis, leaving us with a just smidgen of white stuff. I’m guessing that a lot of moms feel the way I do: we’re happy the snow fall was light and left us with a pretty backyard and no mess on the roads.
The kids, on the other hand, are annoyed that Mother Nature did not bring us enough snow for sledding riding and snowman building. I had to go back to 2010 to find photos of the kids playing in snow. Among my photos was this YouTube (below) we made at Art Hill.
For those new to the area, Art Hill is THE place to take your kids sledding when the city has snow. It’s a nice steep hill in Forest Park between the front of the Art Museum and the big lake that runs through the park. The park staff set out hay bales to keep the kids from sliding into the lake, so no worries there.
They also set up bonfires at the top of the hill, so it’s a real family-friendly party when you go.
Parking is free around the museum, so if it manages to snow for real this winter, just bring your sled, your winter gear and maybe a thermos of hot cocoa.
