Looking for not-so-scary Halloween fun around St. Louis?
October is “Owls and Orchids” time at the Butterfly House in Chesterfield! It’s just like their famous March Morpho Mania when the Butterfly House is flooded with blue morpho butterflies–but now with tons of spooky owl butterflies!
Owl butterflies get their names from the giant eye spots on their wings. And unfortunately, just like real owls, the owl butterfly is more active at night. But wait! That’s why the Butterfly House is open late every Tuesday in October!
Come out to the Butterfly House on Tuesdays, Oct. 7, 14, 21, and 28, from 4:30pm to 7pm to check out these evening fliers as the sun goes down. Evening admission is $6 per person.
There will also be some special guests at the Butterfly House on Tuesday nights from the St. Louis Zoo.
And of course it wouldn’t be Owls and Orchids without hundreds of beautiful orchids on display during October.
Want to get the kids prepped for butterfly action? Why not make a butterfly on a stick? Whooooo said Halloween has to be spooky all the time??)
Which reminds me, the Butterfly House is also having a special Halloween event on Oct. 25.
Booterflies is an RSVP only event that includes trick or treating through the outdoor butterfly garden. Kids will also get to play games and make crafts. It’s from 5 to 7pm, so kids might get to see the Owl Butterflies in action as the sun goes down.
Make sure your kids wear their costume! This looks like fun!
