Live Life Outside
The Great Rivers Greenway is hosting an outdoor festival at Creve Coeur Lake Park this Saturday from 10am to 4pm. It’s totally free and it’s totally FUN. This event is all about getting St. Louis folks outside to enjoy our parks and green spaces! If you ever wanted to try an outdoor activity, but didn’t know how to get about doing it, this is your chance! Tons of sponsors are lined up to show you how to have outside fun.
The festival events are free, but you’ll need to sign a waiver (and get a free wrist band) before you play. You can sign up online and pick up your band at the Great Rivers Greenway office (6178 Delmar Blvd) on June 7th or 8th (8am to 5pm) or at the festival when you arrive!
Kids will need a waiver too, but they also need to have an adult with them to supervise. You’ll see the kid waiver after you sign up for your own.
No Experience Necessary!
You can get camping tips from REI, Blop Tents and The Ozark Trail Association. Or learn how to repair a flat bike tire from Recycled Cycles, St. Louis BWorks and Velofix. You can try your hand at paddle boarding and canoeing, learn some self defense for trail runners, or just sit back and relax while playing yard games courtesy of the City of Wildwood.
Wanna learn archery? Gateway ARCH National Park will be hosting archery for kids and adults. (Sorry, can’t help the pun.)
You’re welcome to bring a picnic lunch and Missouri American Water will be there with free water bottles and a water bottle filling station. Forgot your sunscreen? Siteman Cancer Center is handing out sunscreen samples, because they’d rather not treat you later.
But if you don’t feel like hauling a bunch of stuff around there’s also going to be plenty of food trucks on hand. You can take a break while listening to some live music too.
There will be jogging tours, bird watching hikes and even a simulated ski game from Hidden Valley.
All the fun happens at Tremayne Shelter, or Sailboat Cove at the north end of the park. The event is free. Bring close toe shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty or wet–because this is HANDS ON fun.
