I took the kids to the LEGO KidFest in St. Louis and we had a blast! The festival filled up a whole football field, plus a big room in the convention center!
We had four hours to explore and and play with LEGO bricks–and we could have played all day long! The kids made race cars and played in a giant pile of bricks. Mitch made some mosaic art–I really wish they still sold those mosaic sets, because that was pretty fun.
We had a fun session talking to a LEGO Brick Master who gave the kids a virtual tour of the LEGO workshop and pointers on how to build super strong creations. After his talk the kids were invited to put their new knowledge to work, build something strong and then SMASH it with a metal ball on a ramp. My boys did well–both their houses survived the test!
My favorite part of the LEGO KidFest was trying out a new LEGO toy called “Fusion” where you get to build one side of house on a special LEGO plate then take it’s picture with a Fusion app. The app pulls your model into a virtual LEGO town, little dudes come out and finish the house, and they you can play in the town. I can see this kit showing up for someone’s birthday next month.
