Hop downtown to celebrate spring at the Arch Grounds! They’re wrapping up construction and all those ugly construction fences are being removed. You can even walk across the new pedestrian “lid” over Hwy 44! (It was opened to the public on March 27.)
The Gateway Arch Park Foundation, formerly CityArchRiver, is hosting a big party: “Spring Into Your Park,” a family-friendly, community celebration where you can explore the new park! There will be live music, lawn games, kids activities, the Discovery Map Challenge – a scavenger hunt that will take you on an exploration of the new park – and much more. Food trucks and drink vendors will also be on site.
WHAT: Spring Into Your Park
WHERE: Gateway Arch Park Grounds, North Gateway (near Eads Bridge)
WHEN: Saturday, April 7, 2018
TIME: 11 am to 2 pm
The celebration leads up to the GO! St. Louis Marathon events on the riverfront April 8.
Party at the Gateway Arch National Park
Did you hear that we’ve officially renamed the Arch’s park the “Gateway Arch National Park”? Yep, you no longer have to explain to out-of-towners that the Arch is sitting on the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial. Don’t get me wrong, we wouldn’t even BE here if it weren’t for Thomas Jefferson (well, we’d be here, but we’d be French).
The Gateway Arch Park Foundation/CityArchRiver has been hard at work on the renovations of the Arch grounds, and they are almost done! The park is ready for play so they’re having a big party on Saturday, April 7. On April 8 they’ll start the GO! St. Louis Marathon at the riverfront.
On Saturday, April 7, we’re hosting the second annual Spring into your Park, a free community festival celebrating outdoor fun. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the North Gateway area of the Arch grounds (near Laclede’s Landing) will be abuzz with live music, awesome food and drink, face painters, free yoga, character artists, lawn games and more! The best part: It’s not just event entry that’s free – all of the activities are free, too! Visitors will also get a chance to participate in the Discovery Map Challenge, a scavenger hunt tour of the park designed to showcase the park’s transformation. They’ll also receive a Gateway Arch Park branded water bottle for downloading our new app. ~Gateway Arch Park Foundation
Visit the Arch
The museum won’t be ready for the public until the Fourth of July, 2018. You can take a tram to the top of the Arch, but the Old Courthouse is still serving as the temporary ticket booth until the grand opening in July.
More Spring Happenings!
On April 17, and running until July, you can enjoy a free session of Sunrise Yoga, every Tuesday at 7am.
National Park Week is April 21-29 and the National Park Service invites everyone to come downtown and celebrate 102 years of service! The week features Junior Ranger Day on April 21, where kids can earn a special Junior Ranger badge. The park is also fee-free on April 21, so enjoy $3 off your adult Tram Ride to the Top or free Arch Entry-Only tickets.
Monthly Kiener Cocktails Happy Hour start on April 26! You’ll have the chance to hear live music and explore the new Kiener Plaza in the heart of downtown St. Louis with beer, wine or a specialty cocktail in hand. This year, Kiener Cocktails is partnering with the Wandering Sidecar Bar, which will serve drinks out of a vintage camper or truck. You can also pick up some Pizza from Porano Pasta. It’s the perfect way to unwind while supporting America’s tallest manmade monument. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door and free to Gateway Arch Park Friend members (supporter level and above – proceeds support the Gateway Arch Park Foundation. Join at ArchPark.org/Donate.
